AgencyZoom is a sales and service automation platform — an insurance-specific CRM — built to sit on top of your agency management system and run the parts an AMS handles poorly: the sales pipeline, follow-up automation, renewals, referrals and producer accountability. It is a paid product from Vertafore (which acquired it in November 2021), with published pricing that starts at $149/month and a 14-day trial. If you already have an AMS you tolerate but your producers are letting leads go cold and your renewals rely on someone remembering to call, this is the layer that fixes that.
One thing to be clear about up front: AgencyZoom is not an AMS. It does not replace NowCerts, HawkSoft or AMS360 — it plugs into them, syncing contacts and policies both ways so the CRM and the system of record stay in agreement. That two-tool reality is the deciding factor for most agencies weighing it.
What Is AgencyZoom #
AgencyZoom is a cloud-based CRM and lead-management system marketed as a "sales suite for the modern insurance agent." Vertafore owns and operates it, and the product is aimed squarely at insurance agencies — both independent shops and captive channels, with dedicated plans and messaging for Allstate, Farmers, Nationwide and State Farm agents. The vendor cites more than 35,000 users.
The core idea is that a management system is a system of record, not a sales engine. AgencyZoom is the sales engine: a drag-and-drop pipeline for new business, automated drip campaigns that keep prospects warm, renewal workflows so nothing slips, and a performance dashboard so the owner can see who is actually producing. Because it feeds off the AMS book of business, the automation acts on real policies — a renewal date syncs in, AgencyZoom fires the retention touchpoint, the producer follows up, and the outcome writes back. It is deployed as a web app with native iPhone and Android apps for producers who sell on the move.
Features #
Lead management and pipeline CRM #
The centerpiece is a visual, drag-and-drop pipeline that moves prospects from new lead to bound policy. Leads flow in from sources like QuoteWizard, Facebook Leads, LinkedIn Leads and web forms, and producers work them through defined stages instead of losing them in an inbox. A lead-winback feature re-engages the deals that went quiet, so a stalled prospect becomes a revenue-generating follow-up rather than a dead row.
Sales and lifecycle automation #
This is the reason most agencies buy it. AgencyZoom automates the follow-up sequence — prospecting through onboarding through renewal — so a lead gets texted and emailed on schedule without a producer manually chasing. The Growth tier layers on renewal automation and referral tracking; the Pro tier adds a service center for the post-sale relationship.
Renewals and retention #
Renewal automation is built to attack exactly the churn pain agencies describe in a hard market — books that have to be remarketed, clients who wait until the last second to respond. When a policy nears expiry, the renewal date pulls from the synced AMS, AgencyZoom triggers automated touchpoints to the policyholder, and the service center carries the retention conversation — so the renewals motion runs without a CSR holding it all in their head, and the book of business holds its retention rate.
Reporting, goals and commissions #
A performance dashboard tracks producer activity against goals, so accountability is visible rather than anecdotal. Commission-plan automation calculates producer splits, and (on the Pro tier) Google Reviews automation and an AgencyHR module round out the ownership toolset.
Texting, calling and integrations #
AgencyZoom is built to be the hub of a stack. Two-way texting runs through Twilio; calling and click-to-call come via Lightspeed Voice, RingCentral, Bridge and others. Email connects to Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo. On the rating side it links to PL Rating and Tarmika, so a quote can move toward the pipeline rather than living in a separate rater.
Pricing #
AgencyZoom publishes its pricing openly, which is welcome in a category full of quote walls. All plans include up to seven users; annual billing takes 20% off, and the entry tier carries a 14-day trial.
Independent and Farmers agencies
| Tier | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | $149 / month | Prospecting automation, lead management, reporting |
| Growth | $199 / month | Adds referral tracking and renewal automation |
| Pro | $349 / month | Adds Google Reviews, service center, AgencyHR |
Allstate agencies
| Tier | Price |
|---|---|
| Single location | $99 / month |
| Multiple location | $129 / month |
Additional seats beyond the included seven are available by contacting sales; that per-seat price is not published. Two-way texting via Twilio and calling via dialer integrations are their own line items on top.
Who It's For (and Who It Isn't) #
AgencyZoom fits an agency that already runs an AMS and wants to bolt on a real sales-and-retention engine — a growth-minded independent shop, or a captive Allstate, Farmers, Nationwide or State Farm agency that wants pipeline discipline and automated follow-up. The seven-user allowance in every tier makes it economical for a small-to-mid team, and the captive-specific plans (Allstate at $99/$129) are priced for that channel.
It is a weaker fit if you are looking for a management system — AgencyZoom does not carry policies, produce ACORD documents or take carrier downloads, so a solo agent leaving spreadsheets needs an AMS first (or an all-in-one). It is also a second bill on top of your AMS, so a one-person shop watching every dollar should weigh whether the automation earns its keep yet. And texting and calling are add-ons, so the real monthly cost climbs once you switch on the communications you will actually use.
Is It Legit and Worth It? #
AgencyZoom is an established, well-funded product — Vertafore-owned since 2021, with a large user base and an active integration ecosystem that covers the major agency management systems. It syncs two ways with AMS360 and QQ Catalyst, two ways with NowCerts, pulls one-way from HawkSoft, and imports the book of business from EZLynx; on the rating side it connects to PL Rating and Tarmika. That breadth is the point: it is designed to be the connective sales layer over whatever system of record you run, moving policy and contact data between the AMS and the pipeline so producers work live data, not stale copies.
The honest caveats are about fit and cost, not legitimacy. It is a second tool and a second bill, so agencies deep in Applied's or Vertafore's own ecosystem should confirm the sync depth they need before committing — the HawkSoft connection, for instance, is largely one-way into AgencyZoom, so service changes made in HawkSoft will not flow back. Texting and calling are paid add-ons, so budget past the sticker. And because it is a sales-and-service overlay rather than an AMS, it solves the follow-up-and-renewals problem well but leaves the management-system problem to another product.
